Who I Am
I’m Joanne Barker and I’ve written about health for more than 20 years, most recently for Tufts University and the MGH Institute of Health Professions. I’ve written for low-literacy audiences, healthcare executives, concerned parents, and a lot of other people as well. As a volunteer for Massachusetts Literacy Volunteers, I meet with an adult student once a week to work on writing skills.
HEALTH COMMUNICATION FOR THE PEOPLE
From dyslexia to autism to dental care, I write about health issues in a human voice. I love diving into confusing topics and providing explanations that help people understand their options, and possibly themselves, better.
WRITE IT FOR THE WEB
How do you keep people on your site when a world of distractions is one click away? I write for the web without dumbing things down. And if you need an editor who can hone your message for an overloaded audience, I can help.
